Stressing about AI stealing design jobs? Watch this masterclass to learn how Tata’s Digital expert thinks, designs and uses AI to stay ahead.
There’s a conversation every designer is having these days: Is AI here to take over the design world? Is AI going to take our jobs?
Surprisingly, the answer isn’t yes or no. It’s much more interesting than that.
In the video, Vinay Kashyap, Lead Designer at Tata Digital, shares a truth most designers don’t realise:
AI isn’t a threat… It’s an upgrade.
Vinay takes us through his journey of sketching comic characters inspired by his father as a kid to designing digital products used by millions today. And what’s interesting is that every stage of his career introduced a “new tool” that people were scared of. His journey proves that the designers who adapt are the designers who thrive.
According to Vinay, AI isn’t here to replace creativity. It’s here to remove the boring parts:
- Doing endless research
- Generating 20 variations of the same design
- Documenting and re-documenting patterns
- Rewriting copy again and again
With AI, designers get more time to do the part that actually matters:
thinking, empathising, solving problems, and building experiences people love.
But here’s the twist: AI can only elevate you if you already understand design fundamentals: color theory, typography, layout, UX patterns, and user behaviour. Without that foundation, AI gives you visually pleasing results that might not make sense.
That’s why Vinay says: “AI isn’t replacing designers. It’s replacing the parts of design that don’t require thinking.”
