A mullion is a vertical beam used to divide a window into smaller glass units. It supports the glazing of the window as well as its structure and arch. Mulllions also double as decoration adding visual interest to a room.\n<\/p>\n

Mullions are popular in traditional interior design<\/a> but can also be used in modern designs<\/a>, based on preferences. Mullions are also used for doors and screens and function as separators. They can be made from a variety of materials such as metal, wood, aluminum, or PVC.\n<\/p>\n

Mullion Window<\/h2>\n

Mullion windows are a common type of window design that is popular across Western Gothic and Islamic architecture styles. Mullion windows divide the glazing pane into smaller panes and offer structural support.<\/p>\n

Difference Between Mullion and Transom<\/h2>\n

A mullion and transom perform similar functions except a mullion provides vertical support whereas a transom provides horizontal support. Both are used to divide windows or doors into smaller panes or sections. While millions support glazing and visual appeal, transoms are also added for added light and ventilation.\n<\/p>\n
