Font

A font is a specific style of text characters within a typeface and is characterized by attributes such as size, weight, and width. Fonts are used in both print and digital mediums to convey messages effectively and moods through design. In graphic design, fonts play a crucial role in establishing the visual identity and setting the tone of a project.

For example, Helvetica is a typeface, and within this typeface, there are various font styles and variations, such as bold, italic, and thin. These styles include fonts like Helvetica Regular, Helvetica Bold, and Helvetica Italic.

What are the Different Types of Fonts?

Fonts are often classified into several categories, which help in understanding their application. Each category serves a different purpose. The broad categories are:

1. Sans-Serif Fonts: Known for their modern and clean appearance, they are ideal for digital media and screens.

2. Serif Fonts: This type of font has decorative lines at the ends of characters, giving them a traditional and formal appearance. They are often used in print materials for their readability and classic look.

3. Display Fonts: Known for their attention-grabbing designs, these cool fonts feature bold and unique styles that stand out prominently

4. Script Fonts: These fonts have elegant and cursive designs that mimic handwritten calligraphy with flowing, connected letters.

5. Handwritten Fonts: These types of fonts are known for mimicking personal handwriting, which adds a unique and personal touch to designs.

6. Monospaced Fonts: These fonts have a fixed-width design, where each character occupies the same amount of horizontal space.
