Pantone

Pantone is a system that is commonly used in graphic design and enables color matching to help designers as well as businesses use uniform colors across products and branding endeavors. Over time, this system has become crucial for businesses across industries to maintain brand consistency by using similar colors.

The Pantone Matching System (PMS) works by giving each color a unique number. Designers can use these numbers to ensure they are using the same colors. Pantone also offers guides on creating formulas for colors in addition to providing swatches for easier understanding.

What are Pantone Colors?

A Pantone color is basically a color that is part of their specialized system. It uses specific formulas to identify colors and give each of them a unique number. Pantone colors help with brand consistency and efficient color matching.

Pantone also releases ‘Pantone Color of the Year’ that reflects the trends of that particular year. In addition to this, they have different systems to cater to different industries, such as fashion, home interiors, etc.

Pantone vs CMYK vs RGB

Pantone, CYMK, and RGB are all different color models and systems, used for varied reasons. Pantone is a standardized color-matching system used to ensure the production of the exact color.

CYMK is a color model used primarily for printing, while RGB is used for digital displays. RGB is an additive model, whereas CYMK is a subtractive model. Pantone, on the other hand, is used for identifying exact shades of the colors for continuous use.
