Call To Action

A call to action (CTA) refers to an interactive UI design element, that requires a user to perform a certain action, such as signing up for a newsletter, filling up a form, or subscribing.

CTAs can be implemented anywhere on your website, such as your landing pages, home page, or blog section. They are a great way to visually attract your target audience and when done effectively can also boost conversion rates.

A CTA button is a design element that allows users to confirm or perform an action.

Why is CTA Important in UI UX Design?

CTA is important because it is the key element for conversion and achieving business goals. It is designed in a way that the user is compelled to click it, ultimately leading to the user purchasing your product or service, which is the end goal for any business.

The main purpose of a CTA is to generate leads and achieve a high conversion rate for any website. In UI UX design, a well-placed and thoughtfully designed CTA can significantly improve the user experience, as well. CTAs guide the user through their journey and ensure they take the required action.

In order to position your CTA correctly, is it important to analyze user behavior and base decisions on the data. A/B testing can also come in handy to figure out which CTA works better and is more effective.

UI Designing Tips for Effective CTA Buttons

  • Descriptive text – Clickable CTA buttons should have clear and precise text and be catchy enough to catch the user’s eye. Typography plays a crucial role in this process as selecting the right font type, size, and weight enhances the CTA's visibility
  • Proper Size – The size of the CTA button is the most important. It should neither be too big nor too small, but an appropriate size that allows users to easily notice it.
  • Shape – CTA buttons come in various shapes and sizes, but square, rectangular, and rounded shapes are most commonly used.
  • Color contrast – Once your size and font are fixed, designers need to ensure the text contrast is appropriate and the button’s details are visible to users.
  • Device responsiveness – The CTA should be optimized for mobile and other devices and screen sizes to ensure a seamless user experience.
  • A/B Testing – A/B testing allows you to try two versions of a CTA button to check which one works for more effective results.
