Ombre

Ombre is a French word that translates to “shaded.” It means blending one shade or tone of color with another, usually going from dark to light. Basically a transition from one color to another, done subtly.

In interior design, ombre can be used in various ways. One can use it in carpets, paints, wallpapers, etc. It is used to make the rooms, or a focal point in them, more visually appealing. Ombre is also a popular technique used in fashion, especially in hair and nails.

Ombre is a color technique in which one hue blends into another with the help of tints and shades, generally moving from dark to light. It is a popular technique in contemporary interior design, where colors are blended from top to bottom. This technique is effective in achieving depth and dimension.

It can be applied to a room in the following ways:

  • On Walls - Ombre in interior design is most commonly used on walls. A wall painted with the gradual blending of colors adds a lot of character and depth to the room.
  • On Curtains - Using a fabric with an ombre effect as your curtains can make your room look elegant and also increase its visual interest.
