Vignette

In interior design, a vignette refers to a small, curated display of decorative items or other accessories for aesthetic purposes. These curated arrangements are often displayed to convey a story or evoke an emotion.

Vignettes are used to create visual interest in a room. They can be used in the corner or center of the room to create a focal point. Vignettes are a great way to make a room more inviting and add personality to it.

Not to be confused with

Tableau

It is a more dramatic arrangement of decorative items that display a scene or painting.

How to Create a Vignette in Interior Design?

To create a vignette and add an artistic flair to your interior design, follow the steps mentioned below.

  • Choose the placement of the vignette and decide on a theme. This theme can be a color palette, season, story, etc.
  • Select the objects and materials you want to use in your vignette.
  • Decide on a focal point and mix and match different items around it. You can experiment with different textures and patterns to create more visual interest.
  • Arrange different elements in a way that best suits your theme. Layering is a great way of creating a stylish vignette.
  • It is important to consider the space in which you are working. Overcrowding can make your vignette seem messy.

You can be as experimental as you want with your vignette. Adding it to your room is a great way of personalizing the space and adding visual appeal.
